This is an opportunity for an individual to work as a Medical Laboratory Assistant in a busy department which provides a full range of clinical and diagnostic services in NHS Tayside and North-east Fife.
The Blood Sciences Department is based on two sites at Ninewells Hospital, a large Teaching hospital and Medical School, Dundee and Perth Royal Infirmary, Perth.
We are looking for a member of staff that can demonstrate team work, initiative, flexibility and has the enthusiasm to train further. You will be working in a newly refurbished state of the art core laboratory with Siemens analysers.
We require someone to work in our Laboratory Specimen Reception area to pick up, receive and prepare patient samples for analysis. Basic computer skills are required, deal with telephone enquiries, and also carry out general laboratory duties. Experience is not essential as full training will be provided. However, previous employment in a hospital environment is desirable. Occasional Public Holiday and weekend working may be required.
Hours of work are: 37.5 hours per week

Full Job Description
Technical Services support teaching and research in laboratories across the University. Over the coming months, we will be recruiting for a range of fantastic permanent and fixed-term opportunities on a full or part-time basis as Laboratory Technicians across our teams.
We will be reviewing applications every other week, and placing those who meet the essential criteria into a Talent Pool. We will contact you directly when roles become available.
As a Laboratory Technician your primary function will be to provide essential technical support for laboratories at the University of Exeter. You will be working closely with a Laboratory Manager to support academic staff and the operational needs of a multitude of teaching sessions or research projects for the University.
Working in a team and within a busy laboratory setting, you will be ensuring a safe and efficient working environment carrying out duties as cleaning, processing, and sterilising equipment & consumables, dealing with deliveries and keeping stores stocked and organised, utilising our laboratory management software.
We provide full specialist training and, for the right candidate an opportunity to study a Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship Standard.

We are looking for people who can work effectively within busy environment, both in a team and on their own. You will have experience of working within a laboratory environment and have an understand the requirement for safe methods of Health and Safety at work.

We are looking for several talented Laboratory Operations Technicians to join our team specializing in turbocharger development for our ComponentsBusiness Unit , on-site at our Huddersfieldlocation.
Basic annual salary range of £23,400 – £35,300 depending on experience with a shift premium of 35% for 10 hours and 75% for 1.5 hours.
This role will be working a Continuous Shift pattern will consist of 12-hour shift across both days and nights working 2-2-3.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Test and develop innovative product to meet customer needs and requirements.
- Work as part of a dynamic inclusive team to ensure timely delivery of test results.
- Support engineering in product development and testing across multiple disciplines.
- Champion health and safety throughout the Lab reporting issues where necessary.
- Support operation across the Lab to maintain high utilization and throughput.
- Operation of numerous test facilities to conduct a variety of testing for product pass-off and development.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm.
- Make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
- Make good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of turbocharger and test cell architecture including their limitations and possible failure modes.
- Apprenticed training and HNC qualification and/or equivalent experience.
