To provide support for electrical installations, repairs, planned maintenance and new installations.
Execute all works in a safe manner, with responsibility for your own personal safety and other personnel.

You Will

  • Assisting with the installation of signs/columns, bollards, and associated equipment.
  • 24-hour Emergency Response/Out of Hours Standby. STAND BY RATES APPLY
  • Assisting with the installation of any new build works.
  • Carry out works as instructed by the Site Supervisor in a safe manner, within the scope if relevant
  • Electrical inspection and testing including periodic testing.
  • Fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained to a high standard, with vehicle defect sheet completed correctly.

Skills & Experience to have either of the following

  • G39 (not essential)
  • Experience on street lighting/ highways
  • NRSWA (Not essential)
  • MEWP (not essential)
  • ECS Test
  • First Aid (Appointed Person)
  • Electrical Competence

Public Realm Maintenance Operative

Lancaster City Council are looking to appoint an energetic and motivated individual to join the Public Realm Grounds / Cleansing Maintenance teams within the Communities and Environment Directorate to contribute to making our district as well maintained as possible. The individual will need to be hard working, take pride within their work and have a passion for making improvements.

The role involves working as part of a wider team to provide high quality environmental maintenance services including litter management, clearing of fly tipping, chewing gum removal, graffiti removal, leaf clearance, cleaning up of spillages, amenity grass cutting, hard landscaping, dyke management, washing of street furniture, playground installation, weed growth, and cultivating of the districts bedding areas.

You will be required to have a good technical knowledge of grounds maintenance techniques and practice as duties will include mowing, strimming, hedge cutting, weeding and litter picking within the Authority’s parks, open spaces and streets.

The work is physically demanding, involving bending, kneeling, lifting and carrying and it is essential that you are able to lift weights of up to 20kg.

You will be able to demonstrate flexibility and commitment to delivering high quality customer service.

The hours for this post are 37 hours per week. Your normal working week will be on a shift rota basis, working 5 days out of 7, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, in line with business needs. This post is based at White Lund Depot.

A full current UK driving licence with legal dispensation to pull trailers up to 3500kg.

Trainee Operative

The Role

We are now looking for Trainee Operatives for our Traffic Management contract in Wokingham, Berkshire.

Trainee Operatives are responsible for working with both the direct labour and sub-contract labour, meeting targets and deadlines on time. These include the operation of Traffic Lights and Plant, where trained and certificated with the addition of various other aspects of Traffic Management.

Key Accountabilities

  • To work to the NHSS 12 accreditation.
  • Closing roads
  • Being able to read and interpret CAD traffic management drawings.
  • Setting up Lane Closures.
  • Setting up traffic lights.
  • Maintaining and remove traffic management within the required time scales.
  • Site clearance.
  • Assisting with the diversion of traffic.
  • To ensure the team works in a safe and effective manner to achieve optimum output and to the required quality.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety at Work Act at all times.
  • Be aware and comply with VolkerHighways Health & Safety, quality, and Environmental policies.
  • To help with the unloading/loading of materials.
  • Ensure safe working practices are followed as outlined in Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Reporting vehicle and plant defects to Foreman.

Skills & Experience

  • Entry level NHSS12 – TTMBC Qualification
  • Willingness to learn
  • Any construction experience would be advantageous
