The birth rate in the Principality decreases by 6.9% in 2022

According to the data published by the Department of Statistics, this last year there was the lowest birth rate recorded in Andorra with a percentage variation of -6.9%. In 2022, 502 births were counted within the resident population of the Principality, 254 girls and 248 boys.

The average age of the mothers was between 33 and 47 years, and with a fertility rate of 26.48 babies per 1,000 women aged 15 to 49. The data also showed that the conjunctural fertility indicator is 0.94.

With regard to the percentage change in birth rates by parish, Massana is the one that has had the strongest drop of -17.3%, followed by Sant Julià de Lòria with -9.7%, Escaldes-Engordany with a -7.5%, Canillo with 2.7% and Andorra la Vella with 4.6%.
The parishes that have had a higher birth rate have been Ordino with 44% and Encamp with 11.8%.

Regarding the nationality of the babies, 183 were of Andorran nationality, followed by 148 of Spanish, 57 of Portuguese, 9 of French and 105 of other nationalities.

On the other hand, Statistics also showed that in this same year there were 371 deaths of residents, 203 men and 168 women, a -3.9% compared to the previous year. If we compare these data with those before the pandemic (year 2019), the figure represents an increase of +23.3%.

The average age of the deceased was 72.37 years for men and 78.42 years for women, with a mortality rate of 4.55 deceased per 1,000 inhabitants.

Regarding the nationalities of the deceased, 137 were Andorran, 159 Spanish, 17 French, 32 Portuguese and 26 of other nationalities.

On the other hand, statistics also published data on marriages, divorces, separations and annulments. During the year, 349 weddings were registered, 310 civil and 39 ecclesiastical. On the other hand, a total of 139 divorces and 99 separations were registered.
